Months after a devastating fire, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has re-opened in Flower Mound. The fire broke out on an early Tuesday morning last September. It destroyed the kitchen and the dining room had major smoke damage. Fire crews from Lewisville and Highland Village assisted Flower Mound Fire Department with the blaze.
“The fire was emotionally devastating for me and my family. I didn’t think I was going to be able to recover,” Mo Afzal, who owns the restaurant along with four other Dickey’s locations, said in a statement.
According to Afzal, the fire was started by an electrical short in the ice machine. No one was injured in this fire.
“The support and love from our community was phenomenal. I have the deepest respect for the city of Flower Mound, our local chamber of commerce, our local churches and our customers. Everyone wanted to show support and help us through this horrific event,” said Afzal. “I couldn’t have gotten through this without all their help.”
The restaurant at 3320 Long Prairie Road is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
“We are all so happy that this location is open again. The Flower Mound community really showed their support during this whole process and I am truly grateful for that,” said Roland Dickey, Jr., president of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.
Dickey’s Barbecue was founded in 1941 in Dallas. The store phone number is 972-691-0197.
