From KBTX.com: Denton Ward of Flower Mound was one of two people killed in a two-car collision at a College Station intersection Saturday morning. Police arrived at 2:38 a.m. to the intersection of Texas Avenue and Holleman Drive to find a Toyota SUV and Chevrolet pickup truck had collided.
Ward, a former football player at Marcus High School, and 19-year-old Lauren Crisp of College Station, passengers in the Toyota, died in the collision. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 19-year-old Samantha Bean of College Station and passenger 19-year-old Tanner Giesen of Highland Village were sent to College Station Medical Center for injuries suffered in the accident. Police said Bean was the only occupant in the Toyota wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

UPDATE 2/18/2012 11:00am: During their initial investigation, officers were able to determine that the 1999 Toyota 4-Runner was traveling northbound on Texas Avenue. The 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup was eastbound on Holleman stopped at a red light. The signal light for the Chevrolet turned green and the truck proceeded into the intersection. The driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the red light for northbound Texas traffic and was struck by the Chevrolet on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to spin. The Toyota came to rest when the back-end portion of the vehicle impacted the light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The Chevrolet had four occupants, none of whom were injured. All occupants of the Chevrolet were wearing seatbelts. The driver of that vehicle has been identified as Anish Tharappel, 19 years of age, College Station resident.
The identities of the occupants of the Toyota are still being withheld pending family notifications.

At approximately 2:38 AM, officers responded to a report of a major accident at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Holleman Drive. Upon arrival, officers found that a Toyota SUV and a Chevrolet pickup truck had collided. At this time, two individuals are known to be deceased. Several other persons were injured and transported to the College Station Medical Center. Currently, the extent of their injuries is not known.Investigators and the accident reconstruction team have been called to the scene and the investigation is underway. The identities of the persons involved are not being released pending notification of next of kin. More information will be released as the investigation continues and notifications are made.
The intersection of Texas Avenue and Holleman Drive is currently closed to traffic as the investigation continues.
